Confession of a young man I never knew how much overlap, how many similarities existed between the hands of young man working in a harsh cold environment and those of an older generation dealing with the hard earned aches and pains of age. As we worked on we began to understand and we shared in a solution. As the owner and founder of Maine Magic Mud I started the company after a season of winter fishing when my hands began to show understandable wear and tear. The skin was cracked and peeling and the ache went all the way to the bone. When I started the company I wanted a product for people like me, for hard workers and laborers who were reaping one of the unfortunate bi-products of their lifestyle. What happened, and what I could have never predicted was an amazing meeting of people with overlapping challenges and concerns. Instead of the pains of daily labor many of my customers are facing the trials associated with a life well spent. Aching hands and cracking skin earned through their venerable time in life. It turned out that the symptoms I was experiencing were markedly similar to some of the challenges facing an older generation and in an accidental way I was in a position to do something about it. The relief I finally for my hands after using the Turmeric and Neem scrub was shared by a man in his 70’s who had worked all his life as a mechanic. The dry skin repaired by the Kelp Shampoo markedly improved a 67-year-old woman’s psoriasis. There were no magic cures (despite the name), there was no final fix but there were improvements and relief, an often overlooked and disregarded factor in today’s world of instant fixes and lofty claims. I found myself in communication with many older men and women who were, along with their improvements, grateful to finally be interacting with a company that was not, for lack of a better phrase, blowing sunshine… well you get it. They were getting older; they were aching and were sick of being told that there was something out there that could fix it all. I started Maine Magic Mud to help people and that is what we try to do every day. |
